Abstract
The dissertation attempts to delve deeper to analyse the crucial role played by good corporate governance towards the realization and sustainability of success of a company in its run up towards Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). Bearing in mind the importance that IPOs continue to serve as one of the fundamental means whereby companies have an opportunity to tap into the capital markets, the study places special emphasis on how stringent practices of corporate governance can play an important role in re-enforcing confidence among the investors and help to contribute towards favourable outcomes in the IPO listing. “The researcher attempts to answer key research questions: the effect of corporate governance quality on investor demand, the co-relation between governance mechanisms and post-IPO performance, and the impact of governance on IPO pricing and valuation. The researcher hypothesizes that the level of success of an IPO depends on pre-offer governance strength within that company. The foundation of this research is built on analysing corporate governance
structures, ownership patterns and level of transparency in their practices. This research aims to provide empirical insights and policy recommendations aiming for better governance standards that enable an organization to be effective and resilient in capital markets. A strong understanding of this interplay between corporate governance and IPO dynamics should help guide companies planning an IPO, investors evaluating the investment opportunities associated with an IPO, and policymakers crafting regulatory frameworks.”
